This is actually my second purchase of the same item. The first one broken down after 2 years or so being exposed to the elements. The second unit is now placed under a roof so I’m hoping that it’ll last somewhat longer. So does this item really work? Some say it’s wishful thinking, but I don’t hear my obnoxious neighbor’s crazy dogs as much. Give it a try, and you be the judge. I “think” it works, but “thinking” is something that goes on in one’s mind and not really objective at times so, again, you be the judge. Getting back to Lentek’s Super Bark Free–my second unit did not come with an A/C adapter like my first unit. It’s a good thing that I kept the A/C adapter! You can always use batteries to power this unit; then, you need to worry about battery rot so I suggest buying an A/C adapter. If you intend on buying the A/C adapter, make sure it’s the Lentek’s recommended model since it comes with a super-long cord that makes the installation process easier without the burden of running an extension cord and worrying about water-proofing the connection. Naturally, your outlet must be in a dry area but the cord on the A/C adapter itself is somewhat water proof, and the current is transformed into DC so there’s less chances for causing a fire. I wish my neighbors move out!

Our neighbors have three very large dogs that bark day and night. Two of them were rescued from shelters and according to the owners have a history of serious abuse. We were in the final step of animal control intervention and about to enter prosecution. I bought this device four days before our final control board hearing. Its magic. The dogs have stopped barking completely! Nothing! My son told me that now all he hears is a low whimper coming from the dogs in situations that caused them to bark uncontrollably previously.

Based on the other reviews I decided to install the device in a specific manner to ensure unobstructed line of sight positioning. I bought an umbrella stand, 6 feet of galvanized pipe – to clear the stone wall between our yards and a parabolic dish to cover it from the elements. I installed it one foot from the fenceline pointed at the area where they bark the most.

NO MORE BARKING!!! FREE AT LAST!

Install this properly and it works.

The unit was well packaged, assembly was according to instructions but the lower pair of batteries required an implement to compress the robust contact springs to permit insertion of batteries. There is no on off switch, but batteries have lasted two weeks and are still going.

I have a neighbor with a big dog with an attitude. One of the guys put it on a shed with his head over the fence and each movement I made set it off. I ordered the LENTEK Super Bark Free. Set it up in the middle of the yard and nothing happened. Moved it closer to the fence and made noise to get the dog’s attention and it still barked. Thought I had a dud, but left it in place. After a week I realized that the barking had diminished and even when the dog knew I was there and responded, the most I got was two barks. Set sensitivity to maximum, barks to two.

The best part was two nights ago the dog’s owner realizing that it was not barking, tried banging on a pot and dragging something metallic across the pavement to get it’s attention. Nothing. The dog has been TRAINED. It took some time, but all is now quiet on the western front. I am totally satisfied with this product.

This device is able to use a power adapter so you can plug it in…but you need to order it seperately! It costs about $25 fot the adapter, but I figured there was no way I was going to be changing batteries on this thing every few days.

Unfortunately, the company who makes this device lost my order for the adapter even though they charged me for it. A few weeks later, after complaining to my credit card company, I received two adapters in the mail?

With the adapter, and placed in the right position (it really does need to be within about 20 feet of the barking dog) the device worked initially! I was so excited when I heard the neighbor’s dog start barking, then quickly stop.

BUT, the thing only worked for about 3 weeks, and then started emitting the subsonic shriek randomly. I noticed it was making a clicking sound as I walked by it, and my dog -who rarely barks- was shirking away. I had built a wooden enclosure around it to keep the elements away, but apparently ANY amount of moisture in the air will render this a $75 paperweight. I live in Oregon but was using it in the summer, when there was not a lot of precipatiation.

Instead I went over and talked to my neighbor about the barking dog and he was remarkabley civil and respectful about it. I advise you to avoid this product. Would be great it if was built to last, even say 6 months, but something is seriously wrong with a design that malfunctions after a few weeks. Back to the drawing board, Lentek.
