I have a 5 month old puppy with fairly severe separation anxiety. We live in an apartment and can’t leave her for more than 5 minutes without her barking and, needless to say, this isn’t popular with the neighbors. I tried everything including kong toys, tv/radio on, crate training, low key coming/going. Nothing seemed to be helping so when I read about the DAP collars I figured it was worth a try. I never saw a drastic change. When we received the DAP collar we began doing desensitization training, leaving for anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes to slowly get her used to it. About 4 weeks later, she can stay about 10-20 minutes alone before she begins barking, although she is hardly relaxed. I wasn’t sure if the DAP collar had much effect until I took it off to give her a bath. When I went to do her daily training she frantically whined and scratched at the door the moment I stepped out, which was an extreme reaction for her at this point. I put her collar back on, and she returned to her “normal” self. The same occurred when the collar needed to be replaced.. she began having more frantic reactions to my leaving, even for a mater of seconds. When I replaced her collar with a new one, she calmed down. Overall, the DAP collar does seem to “take the edge off” so that we can work on training, but it’s far short of a cure for our little girl.

The collars seem to mellow out our dog somewhat. If you are expecting miracles, you might be disappointed though.

Tried it for separation anxiety. Didn’t seem to make a difference. Using a “treat ball” worked better (that she has to work as a puzzle to get kibbles).

I purchased this item on the internet at about one-third of the retail cost. I ordered it one day, and the product was in my mailbox two days later.
